Data Machine Intelligence (DMI) has been selected as a technology provider within the KIRK Consortium, a German initiative to build a space-based reconnaissance and targeting capability. The consortium brings together Helsing, OHB SE, KONGSBERG and HENSOLDT alongside a group of innovative startups and SMEs, combining established aerospace and defense expertise with agile new-space technology.

Within the consortium, DMI contributes its AI and autonomy software to the joint effort. The initiative reflects a broader push in Germany and across Europe to develop reconnaissance and targeting infrastructure that is built, owned and operated on European terms, reducing dependency on non-European technology for capabilities that are central to national and continental security.

Achim Krockenberger, Co-CEO of DMI, said: "Being chosen by the KIRK Consortium is a proud moment for our team. This is exactly what we built DMI for: contributing trusted autonomy technology to programs that give Germany and Europe real operational capability in space-based reconnaissance and targeting."

Bertram Gorlo, Co-CEO of DMI, added: "Germany is serious about sovereign reconnaissance from space, and the KIRK Consortium is set to deliver it. The capabilities built through this constellation will shape Europe's strategic independence for the next decade. Europe needs to own its technology stack from orbit to the ground, and DMI is proud to help build it."

The KIRK Consortium unites experience across the full breadth of the New Space and defense ecosystem: Helsing and OHB SE anchor the joint venture, with KONGSBERG Defence & Aerospace and HENSOLDT contributing further industrial depth alongside the startups and SMEs, including DMI, that make up the wider partnership. Together, the consortium aims to move quickly from concept to operational capability, pairing the maturity of established players with the speed of newer technology providers.
